Ugh. Did somebody get the name of that hippogryff that ran me over? I feel like shite, and I'm pretty sure that Alice gave me whatever it is that she has. That's what we get for having those orgies. Lils, Tierney, if you two didn't catch it either, stay far far away. Or I might cough on you just so that you can share in my misery. That's just how I am: a kind, sharing person.
Ro, if you laugh, I am going to drag my diseased self over to your common room, get an ickle firstie to let me in, and then cough all over your things.

HAH! I found my journal. Blasted thing has been wedged under my bed since before the hols and I haven't been able to find it.
The ghosts and Peeves are acting weird. I swear I didn't do anything to them ... lately But at least it means that Peeves has some new material. His regular songs were starting to get old and stale.

[ ooc: this post was made after dinner ]
I've decided that, if birthdays mean wearing a roaring lion hat around all day and being sung to, then I want it to be my birthday every day!
By the way, Ro, I LOVE that shirt and am going to wear it all the time from now on. Also, I am not getting old!
Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes!

I'm going to go mad if I don't get my voice back soon. And I'm only being a little bit dramatic here. We also shouldn't have to go to class until this is all fixed.

Not the essay I'd planned to write, but oh well.
5 People I Respect by Marlene McKinnon
1. My dad. He's an Auror, but on top of that he's a father. He's always been willing to put his health, well-being, and even his own life on the line to help protect others, while at the same time being home for his family whenever possible, raising three daughters and teaching them to be strong and brave, like he is. To stand up for those who can't stand up for themselves.
2. Headmaster Dumbledore. First of all, he's the Headmaster of Hogwarts. No matter what your own personal opinions of the man, his job can't be easy. I certainly wouldn't want to do it. Merlin, I'd be shite at that job. There's a lot of people who would be shite at that job. The fact that he's doing it, and doing it well (my essay, my opinions, don't like it, don't read), when he could have a "better" job, I respect him for that.
3. Other Aurors, and also Hit Wizards. My dad's certainly not the only Auror, of course. There's plenty of others who do the same thing every day, putting their lives on the line to hunt down dark wizards and keep the world safe. It takes a big person to do something like that, willing to die for people they don't even know. If I'm even half the Auror they are, I'll be happy.
4. Healers. Think about all they do. Think about how little they get thanked for what they do. They patch us up when we break bones (and I've done that plenty of times myself), dole out the potions when we get a cold or something, not to mention all the blood and other really nasty things they see day in and out. It takes a special kind of person who'll do that. Someone with an iron stomach, too.
5. Myself. I respect myself, even when certain less-than-respectful reporters who shall remain nameless to protect their privacy (because it's respectful to respect others' privacy even when they don't necessarily do the same for you or others) try to slander my name by implying (or even outright saying) things that aren't true about me. I might flirt some with boys okay, a lot, gimme a break I'm sixteen but I'm not a hussy. And anyone who knows me would say the same.

Now, I just know that you will all be asking yourselves "why, I wonder where Marlene might be? Is she in class? Is she off at Quidditch practice? Or is she at a club meeting? If only I knew where she was!" So, I have decided to help you all out with that!
Monday, after lunch, I can be found in Charms. Charming, isn't it? After dinner on Monday, you can find me at Quidditch practice. Tuesday, after breakfast, you can find me in Defence Against the Dark Arts. But you know what they say? The best defence is a good offence. Wednesday, after breakfast, you can find me in Herbology, and after lunch I can be found in Potions. Thursday, after breakfast, I can be found in Transfiguration. Finally, on Friday at ten in the morning, you can find me in Care of Magical Creatures.
Isn't that wonderful? Oh, and on the weekends, I still have Future Aurors on Saturday, then Duelling Club and USO on Sunday.
So, you see? Never again will you have to wonder where I am, all you have to do is check right here and know. Helpful, isn't it?

I'm a homely hussy. My reputation is nearly as unfortunate as my face.
I feel so proud of myself.
I'm going to get some extra copies of the Daily Prophet so that I can frame a copy and also send one to Alain. He'll be so proud of me. His favourite cousin, a hussy with "wanton machinations".
Thanks, Rita Skeeter! Your wonderful piece has made me the happiest hussy at Hogwarts!

Well, after Lils put in her journal that lovely picture of yours truly, I thought I would return the favour and put in mine a picture of her.
Now, this is something we don't see often at school, since Lils is always proper and eats with a fork, but every once in a while when food mysteriously appears in our dorm (and we really have no idea how it gets there, really), she actually doesn't use anything but her fingers! Oh, the scandal. Stuffs that pretty little face of hers, too. Does me and Alice proud, she does. Sniff, our little Lils, all growed up and stuffing her face.

Oi! Hello Hogwarts! Who else believes this was a ruddy bril idea? Finally, I can bother talk to people from far far away without having to wait for owls. I know Merlin's going to love me for that. I can also keep an eye on Monica better, now! But Roland, you'll still keep an eye on her around your common room for me, right? Please? I'll send you some of mum's biscuits! And I promise that this time I won't help her make them!
Mum is talking about us going to Diagon on Thursday to get our supplies, even though I've been telling her that Madi and I are old enough to go by ourselves (honestly, parents!) and that we can keep Monica safe, too. But she's insisting on at least taking Monica, but Madi and I might be able to get away for a while, so if anyone wants to meet up, we must!
